Gentoo for All: My Personal easy install of Gentoo (Meet Pintoo!)

Gentoo in 2026: Uncompromising Flexibility Meets Binary Speed

For years, Gentoo has carried the stigma of being the "compile-everything, long wait" distribution. But if you are still dismissing it because you don't want to spend 12 hours compiling a kernel, you are missing out on the most adaptable Linux distribution on the planet. The landscape has changed. Gentoo is now a hybrid powerhouse, offering unmatched, low-level technical control alongside the instant gratification of binary packages.

Here is why Gentoo should be your next deployment, whether on a daily-driver laptop or an experimental single-board computer.

The Unrivaled, Absolute Flexibility

Most distributions dictate your system architecture. Gentoo asks you what you want it to be.

At the heart of this is Portage and the USE flag system. Instead of installing a monolithic package with every conceivable dependency compiled in, you define the dependency graph at the source level.

Building a minimal Wayland environment with River WM? Set -X -wayland-compositor globally.

Want to ruthlessly strip out systemd and PulseAudio in favor of OpenRC and PipeWire? A few flags in your make.conf guarantee those libraries will never even touch your system.

You control the compiler directly. By setting your CFLAGS="-O2 -march=native -pipe", every piece of code is aggressively optimized for your exact CPU instruction set.

You can even strip your setup down to the bare metal—configuring a custom Linux kernel to boot directly via EFISTUB without an initramfs, achieving second boot times and a shockingly low RAM footprint. The flexibility is absolute; the system bends entirely to your will.

I think the Binary Revolution (Zero Compile-Time Gatekeeping) is the secret weapon that changes the adoption game: Gentoo is a fully capable binary distribution.

You no longer have to sacrifice an entire afternoon to build rust, llvm, or firefox. Gentoo’s official binary package repositories (gentoo-binhost) serve pre-compiled packages directly. By simply enabling getbinpkg in your make.conf, Portage becomes smart enough to resolve dependencies and pull the binary versions of massive packages, while still compiling what you desire from source.

Meet Zezoca: My Personal AI (Running on Arch Linux!)

Having an AI is fantastic. But having a personal AI running in a purely minimalist environment, controlled directly by you and configured entirely by hand? That is on a whole other level.

Allow me to introduce you to Zezoca, my custom personal AI.

I've always believed that true engineering requires absolute control over your tools. That's why Zezoca lives on the most beloved distribution in the Linux universe: Arch Linux. I didn't want a bloated, locked-down system. I wanted a lean, keyboard-driven environment where every single package is there for a reason. Interacting with Zezoca directly from the terminal, tweaking configurations in Vim, and managing the workflow inside my DWM setup makes the whole experience incredibly lightweight and efficient.

This isn't just about calling an external API; it's about getting under the hood. Running my own AI locally gives me the freedom to dive into the architecture, optimize parallel matrix calculations using raw C and CUDA, and truly understand how the underlying models operate. It perfectly bridges my passion for hardcore system administration and artificial intelligence.

In my latest video, I roll up my sleeves and walk you through how I built and deployed Zezoca on my Arch Linux System. If you want to see what happens when the minimalist Linux philosophy meets AI, check out the video or github below!

Linux 7.1 is here

Linux 7.1 Has Dropped, and AI is Under the Hood 🐧 The highly anticipated Linux 7.1 update is officially live, bringing a massive milestone for software development. For this release, Artificial Intelligence was deployed to debug the kernel—a massive architecture that now spans over 43 million lines of code. This is an incredible showcase of how AI is transforming complex engineering, optimizing the very core of the world's most widely used operating system.

Projects using a Pi

Welcome to the magical, sometimes maddening world of tiny computers and endless possibilities! If you've ever looked at a Raspberry Pi—perhaps a tiny Zero 2 W—and thought, "I bet I can make this do something incredibly cool before I accidentally short-circuit something," you are exactly in the right place.

Below, you'll find a collection of open-source projects I've cooked up. Think of them as your survival guide for dipping your toes into the wild waters of systems engineering. Whether you are trying to understand how things actually work under the hood, or you just want to experience the monumental triumph of making a piece of silicon do what you tell it to, these projects are the perfect starting point for beginners.

The best part? No expensive mainframes were harmed in the making of these tutorials. Everything is built on the philosophy of low-cost hardware and the sheer power of open-source software.

You can find all the raw code and behind-the-scenes shenanigans over on my GitHub https://github.com/dpnpinto/PintoRpi, but for your scrolling convenience, I have broken down all the juicy details and step-by-step guides in the links below.

Grab your Raspberry Pi, a strong cup of coffee, and dive in. Use the force my friend.May the source be with you!

My New Keep It Stupid Simple Site

It is time to take a new Kiss approach to MySite Starting a new website is exciting! The KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) approach is honestly one of the best strategies everybody can use. A clean, uncluttered homepage instantly makes your visitors feel welcome and helps them find exactly what they are looking for.

Since the goal is simplicity, here is my brief welcome to all you.

Hello and welcome. This is a space dedicated to Eletronic, Telecomunications and Computers this site is buil with simplicity in mind so you can find what you're looking for quickly and easily.
